The lemon tree probably originates from India and is now grown in many tropical and subtropical countries. There are approx. sixteen evergreen species of the genus Citrus - with fragrant flowers and strongly aromatic fruits.

Essential oils from the seeds and peels are used in herbal remedies, anti-aging products, soaps, shampoos and perfumes.
